The Fire Evacuation module manages your centre’s obligations under New Zealand fire safety legislation. It’s separate from the Emergency & Drills module because fire evacuation has its own regulatory framework — your scheme must be approved by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ), and trial evacuations must be conducted and reported every four months.

What’s in the module

Evacuation scheme — a full lifecycle record of your FENZ-approved fire evacuation scheme, including the approval details, documents, and all correspondence with FENZ. Trial reports — a record of every trial evacuation, organised into three four-monthly periods each year (P1, P2, P3). The module tracks which periods are complete and when the next one is due.

Two things to keep on top of

Your scheme must be current. All NZ early childhood centres are legally required to have an approved fire evacuation scheme from FENZ. A centre with no scheme, or an expired scheme, is non-compliant — this is flagged prominently in the module and on your dashboard. Trial evacuations must happen every four months. Each trial generates a report that records the outcome against a standard checklist and captures whether the report was submitted to FENZ. The module tracks your P1, P2, and P3 periods for the year and shows what’s due and when.

Dashboard

The Fire Evacuation module contributes a status card to your main dashboard showing:
  • Your scheme status (current, in progress, expired, or no scheme)
  • Your next trial due date and which period it falls in
Both turn red if action is needed — so you can see at a glance whether your centre is on track.
