The Premises Checklist is a configurable daily walkthrough tool for your centre. Your team works through a set of items each day, marking each one as a pass or fail. It’s a simple, consistent way to catch hazards early — and any failed item can be escalated straight into your hazard register.
Who can do what
Compliance users set up and manage the checklist template. Any staff member with access to the Hazard & Premises module can complete a daily check — you don’t need compliance access to do the walkthrough.
Setting up your template
Before your team can complete daily checks, a compliance user needs to configure the template. Go to the Daily Checks tab in the Hazard & Premises module and open the template settings.
For each item on your checklist, you can set:
- Label — what the item is checking (e.g. “Outdoor gate latches secure”, “No trip hazards in main room”)
- Premises location — optionally link the item to a specific area of your centre
Items can be reordered and activated or deactivated at any time. Only active items appear when staff complete a check.
There’s one active template per centre. If your centre has multiple distinct areas, use the premises location field on each item to organise the checklist rather than creating multiple templates.
Completing a daily check
From the Daily Checks tab, click Start Check to begin. The active template loads with all items listed.
For each item:
- Mark it Pass or Fail
- Add optional notes — particularly useful if something needs follow-up even if it passes
Once all items are marked, add any overall notes for the check, then click Submit. This creates a dated record of the check, logged against your name.
When an item fails
If an item is marked as fail, you have the option to promote it to a hazard in the standing register. This pre-fills the hazard title and premises location from the check item so you don’t have to re-enter the details. A compliance user can then complete the full hazard record — adding control measures, risk ratings, and an owner.
The link between the daily check finding and the resulting hazard is recorded automatically, so the trail is clear.
Check history
Past daily check records are listed in the Daily Checks tab with the date, who completed the check, and a summary of how many items passed and failed. You can open any past record to see the full item-by-item results and notes.
The dashboard flags if no daily check has been recorded today, so it’s easy to see at a glance whether the walkthrough has been done.
