The four standards
The register is organised into four standards, matching the structure of the April 2026 licensing criteria: Curriculum (13 criteria, codes C101–C113) — how your service delivers its curriculum, including planning, assessment, culture and identity, and working with families and whānau. Premises & Facilities (29 criteria, codes PF101–PF129) — the physical environment: space, layout, sanitary facilities, sleep areas, and building compliance. Health & Safety (28 criteria, codes HS101–HS128) — hygiene, emergencies, hazard management, child health and wellbeing, child protection, and notification obligations. Governance, Management & Administration (10 criteria, codes GMA101–GMA110) — parent information, professional practices, and planning and documentation.Compliance statuses
Each criterion is recorded as one of five statuses:
The register initialises automatically on first visit — all 80 criteria are created at Under Review status, ready for you to work through.
Evidence linking
Where evidence already exists in the platform, it’s automatically linked to the relevant criteria — you don’t need to add it manually. Evidence sources include:- Emergency drills — linked to the emergency management criteria (HS104–HS106)
- Police vetting records — linked to GMA106
- Induction completions — linked to GMA105
- Policies — any policy tagged to a criterion appears as evidence for that criterion
Corrective actions
If a criterion is non-compliant or partially compliant, you can add corrective actions directly on the criterion detail page. Each action has a description, a due date, and an assigned staff member. Actions are tracked through to completion and appear on the ERO Audit dashboard so nothing is missed.Dashboard
The dashboard shows a Compliance Register summary card with your total count of compliant, non-compliant, and under-review criteria, and a link to the register. The Compliance Register is business-scoped, not centre-scoped. If you operate multiple centres, one register covers all of them.
