Browsing the template library
From the Centre Policies page, click Add Policy and select Adopt from Template. The template library is grouped by category — Curriculum, Premises & Facilities, Health & Safety, and Governance, Management & Administration. You can browse by category or search by title. Each template shows the licensing criteria it covers as colour-coded tags. Click Preview on any template to read the full content before adopting.Adopting a template
When you’ve found the template you want, click Adopt. This creates a copy of the template in your policy library with:- The full template content copied into your policy
- The template’s licensing criteria tags automatically applied to your policy
- Status set to Draft — the policy isn’t published until you review and confirm it
- A link to the source template, so you’ll be notified if the CCNZ team updates it in future
Reviewing and customising
After adopting, you’ll be taken to the policy detail page. Review the content and make any changes specific to your centre — for example, updating placeholders, adding centre-specific procedures, or adjusting wording to reflect your practice. Common things to customise:- Your centre’s name and contact details where referenced
- Specific staff roles or responsibilities
- Procedures that differ from the template default
- Any local context relevant to your community
Publishing
When you’re happy with the content, change the status from Draft to Active and save. The policy is now live in your register, visible to staff, and available to assign for acknowledgement. When the template is updated
If the CCNZ team updates the template your policy was adopted from, a blue banner will appear on your policy. You can:- View changes — see a side-by-side comparison of your current content and the updated template
- Apply update — replace your content with the updated template version (your current version is archived first)
- Dismiss — keep your customised version without applying the update
