The Centre Policies module is where your centre manages its policies and procedures. Policies live in the platform — they’re written and edited here, versioned automatically, and sent to staff for acknowledgement. A PDF export is available for printing or ERO visits, but the platform is the source of truth.

How policies are organised

Policies are grouped into four categories, matching the April 2026 licensing criteria structure:
  • Curriculum — policies relating to teaching practice, planning, assessment, and working with families
  • Premises & Facilities — policies relating to your physical environment
  • Health & Safety — policies relating to safe and healthy practice, emergencies, hazards, and child protection
  • Governance, Management & Administration — policies relating to how your centre is managed and documented
Each policy has a unique reference code that never changes — for example, HS-004 or CUR-002. This code appears on PDFs and evidence packs.

Two ways to add a policy

Adopt from a template — the CCNZ template library contains a constantly growing collection of policy templates mapped to the April 2026 licensing criteria. Adopting a template copies the content into your policy library so you can review and customise it. This is the fastest way to build out your policy register. Create from scratch — if you have a policy that doesn’t match any template, you can write it directly in the platform editor.

Version control

Every time a policy is edited and saved, the previous version is automatically archived. You can view any past version from the Version History tab on the policy detail page. Version history is permanent — nothing is ever deleted.

Staff acknowledgements

Once a policy is published, you can assign it to staff members for acknowledgement. Staff log in, read the policy, and click to confirm they’ve read and understood it. You can track acknowledgement progress from the policy’s Acknowledgements tab.

Review cycles

Each policy has a review frequency and a next review date. The policy list flags policies due for review soon (amber) and policies overdue for review (red). A summary row at the top of the page shows your overall acknowledgement and review status at a glance.

Template updates

When the CCNZ team updates a template your policy was adopted from, a blue banner appears on your policy. You can view the changes side-by-side and choose to apply the update or keep your customised version.
